Microsoft to end extended support for Dynamics CRM 2011

Microsoft have revealed that as of July 13th 2021 they will no longer be supporting Dynamics CRM 2011 versions. Put simply, this means that they won’t be providing any additional updates or patches for Dynamics CRM 2011 users. 

Therefore, if your business is using Dynamics CRM 2011 you will need to consider upgrading your Dynamics CRM solution asap. 

It is important to note that even though Microsoft officially ended mainstream support for Dynamics CRM 2011 back in July 2016, this wasn’t the case for extended support. As Microsoft had to continue to provide updates and patches for at least another 5 years as per their support lifecycle. However, this will be completely stopped in July this year. 

When July 2021 comes around you will find that your business may become exposed if any holes/vulnerabilities are discovered as Microsoft won’t be providing any additional patches to resolve these issues so essentially you would be continuing to use this system at your own risk.

Encouraged to upgrade 

Given that extended support for Dynamics CRM 2011 is ending this year should mean that we see an increase in upgrades to newer versions of Dynamics CRM as those 2011 users will need to upgrade their existing systems or continue to use their existing system at their own risk. 

Furthermore, it is important to note that the extended support for Dynamics CRM 2013 will be the next on the chopping block as that will end in 2023.
