The Wrap-Up: Dynamics GP Business Briefing Event

This year’s Dynamics GP Business Briefing Event, held at Stamford Bridge, London, was short on football but high on value. With presentations from us, as well as some of our most respected and trusted partners, the event touched on everything from Dynamics GP’s latest upgrade and roadmap to GDPR, Dynamics 365 for Financials and CRM, our new service model and brand proposition, and our brand-new look. Over the coming weeks, we will be providing deep dives into each of the presentations given, these will be in-depth articles that delve into the central thesis of each presentation given on the day. For those of you who were unable to make it on the day, this article is a snapshot, an overview, an opportunity to catch up on what you missed. I hope you find this information useful and if you would like any further details please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Presentation 1: Mark Howe, Managing Director, Advantage, Disruption

There’s a lot of talk about digital disruption out there in the market, so much in fact that it seems if you aren't disturbing something then you’re just not tech-ing right. But what does disruption really mean? And more importantly, how does it affect your business?

As Mark Howe pointed out, disruption doesn’t always have to be a disruptive force in your business’ plan. If you’re aware of it, recognise it for what it is and focus on the opportunities that it can bring, disruption has the potential to be your best reason to change and ultimately grow. Disruption will always equal change, but it doesn’t always have to equal chaos.

Presentation 2: Justin Bown, Dynamics Sales Director, Advantage, A New Service Model

As we move towards 2018 and ready ourselves for the changes it will bring, Justin revealed how Advantage is readjusting itself in order to bring customers a more solutions-focused, customer-centric, 360 approach.

And that’s where we are today: no more siloes, just great service that meets all your software and IT needs. For more detail on our new service model, check out my previous article, A new service model, a new look. Meet Advantage.

Presentation 3: Padraig Kelly, Dynamics Account Manager & Stephen Rael, Dynamics Lead Consultant, Advantage, GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation, otherwise known as GDPR is a complex piece of legislation that affects businesses transacting with European citizens and residents alike. Think of it as the EU's way of letting Leavers know there’s no escaping Brussels’ grip.

However, GDPR is also an opportunity for you to clean up the data that you have and rid yourself of unnecessary information that’s simply cluttering your big picture. Take a moment to imagine that – every piece of information you have on your customers and employees is always up-to-date, accurate and useful. If you prepare yourself correctly, GDPR can be something to look forward to.

Presentation 4: Christo van Zyl, Managed Services Director, Advantage, Microsoft’s Cloud

When things were working perfectly and one was in a state of utter bliss people used to say they were ‘on cloud nine’, these days, however, they simply say they're 'on The Cloud.'

Microsoft’s Cloud is always on, always working and always up-to-date and many common “on-premise” problems can be easily solved by migrating to it. When you have a trusted partner leading the way, moving to The Cloud is no riskier than a bird gliding through the sky.

Presentation 5: David Jones, Sales & Marketing Manager, Jane Systems, About Jane

People, they’re like you only not as cool. They’re also pretty important when it comes to running a successful business, and making sure you have a good one can be the difference between success or failure. Having the right recruitment management system can bring some science to your recruitment strategy and an employee management platform can ensure your EVP fosters MVPs.

Presentation 6, 7 & 8: Matt Fleming, U.K. Channel Manager, Jet Reports, Jet Reports: One size doesn’t fit all / Mattias Brunk, Sales Manager EMEA, Solver, BI 360 / Simon Nicholson, Dynamics Lead Consultant, Advantage, Power BI

Reports, they’ve been scaring people since primary school, thankfully Jet Reports, Solver and Power BI make them a lot less daunting in adulthood. From integration to automation, each system allows you to make meaning out of numbers and present findings in a way that's easy to understand.

Presentation 10: Eli Clarke, Dynamics Account Manager, Advantage, Account Management – The Advantage Approach

In the words of Mark Howe, our Managing Director, “GP, CRM, NAV, these are tools – they’re a first step in the right direction. Our people; account managers, support team, all of us – that’s what’s special about Advantage, it’s our expertise that makes these products as valuable as they are.” Here, Eli Clarke, one of our account managers takes you through her approach first-hand.

Presentation 11: Eli Clarke, Dynamics Account Manager, Advantage, GP 2018

Bell criers have been announcing the death of GP since time immemorial, unfortunately for them they’re usefulness has gone out of date while GP’s is as relevant and useful as ever. With updates scheduled well beyond 2019, GP isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Presentation 12: Martyn Kemp, Dynamics Business Development Manager and Suraj Vekaria, Dynamics Consultant, Advantage, Dynamics 365 for Financials Synopsis

Dynamics 365 for Financials is the new kid on the block, the latest ERP offering from Microsoft. There’s a lot of confusion out in the market as to what it’s supposed to be. Is it the new NAV? Or a GP replacement? The answer, right now at least, is neither. As Martyn highlights throughout his presentation, Dynamics 365 for Financials has a lot to offer, but at this stage, it’s still in its infancy. Suraj Vekaria takes us through a demo.
