Dynamics 365/CRM Wave 1 2022 Release – New & Improved Sales CRM Features

Microsoft has recently announced its plans for the upcoming Wave 1 2022 release which will be bringing a whole host of new features to Dynamics 365/CRM for Sales with the main aim of providing sellers with the opportunity to harness the power of data and intelligence that will aid them before, during and after each interaction no matter whether they are new to Microsoft or existing Microsoft CRM users.

In our latest blog article, we’ve asked one of our resident Microsoft CRM specialists to help identify some of the best new features that will be heading to the Dynamics 365 Sales application as part of the Wave 1 release that will be released between April 2022 and September 2022.

Please note the following features are subject to change

Feature 1: The Sales Hub will now come preinstalled across all environments

If your business already has the Sales Hub model-driven app installed then you won’t see any changes to this application. However, if you don’t then you will now find that the Sales Hub will come preinstalled in your environment and will only be visible to those in the following security roles:

  • System Administrator
  • System Customiser
  • Sales, Enterprise app access
  • Salesperson
  • Sales Manager
  • Vice president of sales

Furthermore, as an administrator you will be able to complete the following actions where required:

  • Determine which of the users will need access to the Sales Hub.
  • Easily enable the new and improved Sales Premium functionality where required.

In addition to this, a seller or manager will be able to do the following:

  • Gain access to the Sales Hub app from the Published Apps page once access has been given.

Feature 2: Outlook deep-link integration with templates, autofill and emails to meeting participants

As part of the 2022 update, vast improvements have been made within the Dynamics 365 Sales mobile app to allow deep-link integration with Outlook and the ability to make it context-aware. This will reduce the manual elements of your job and having to switch between apps when emailing customers.

Put simply, you will be able to complete the below once the update has been rolled out:

  • Email composer deep links directly into Outlook.
  • Support for email templates when composing emails.
  • Autofill relevant information from the Dynamics 365 Sales mobile app in Outlook emails to save valuable time.

Feature 3: Discover accounts and contacts via previous email engagements

As part of the 2022 release you as a seller will be able to complete the following:

  • Runs queries for accounts that you and other colleagues have engaged with via email and reveal all the known contacts within those accounts.
  • Run queries for contacts that you and other colleagues have engaged with via email and reveal colleagues who are connected with those contacts.
  • Review interaction scores that inform you how well your business is connected to an account or contact or how strong the relationship is between an external contact or colleague.

Feature 4: Enable Outlook integration to avoid double booking

This new feature will help to make sure that the sales accelerator can read the Outlook calendar at the same time as assigning tasks. This will stop the requirement to double maintenance of availability in both tools.

Furthermore, within the sales accelerator setup screens, you will have the option to select availability in the Outlook calendar. After you have enabled this for any seller who has an Exchange license, you will see that the Outlook integration will help to guarantee the following:

  • The sequence tasks are automatically scheduled honouring the Outlook calendar of the seller.
  • When the seller stops a task, the sales accelerator will take into account the working days in the Outlook calendar.
  • If you are making use of process automation, this will also make sure that the seller availability for new opportunities is based solely on the Outlook calendar.
