What's New: Dynamics GP 2016

Microsoft have announced that Dynamics GP 2016 is to be released on the 1st of May 2016. We’ve been lucky enough at Advantage to secure a beta copy of Dynamics GP 2016, which our expert team has been carefully reviewing and testing over the last couple of months.

The new and improved Dynamics GP heralds the adoption of the HTML 5 standard in then GP web app, Power BI integration, general improvements to SmartLists and much, much more!

Here’s a selection of the highlights of Dynamics GP 2016:

Goodbye Silverlight!

Microsoft Silverlight, a thorn in the side of many GP users, is to be retired in GP 2016. Built from the ground up with HTML 5, GP 2016 negates previous version of GP’s dependency on Silverlight. HTML 5 has also been designed to support any browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox etc) and multiple mobile devices (mobile phone, tablet, laptop etc), making accessing GP 2016 from work or at home a uniform and seamless experience.

Power BI Reporting Integration

Microsoft are continuing to champion Power BI their business intelligence (BI) and analytics software. Dynamics GP 2016 features deeper Power BI integration than ever before. In GP 2016, you’ll be able to have BI reports embedded directly onto the homepage of GP – giving insight into your business at a glance.

Improved SmartLists

Smartlists continue to be one of the most popular features of Dynamics GP. In GP 2016, you’ll be able to easily import and export existing SmartList definitions during installations. You’ll also be able to create a new SmartList from favourites within GP – reducing the time spent removing and editing columns from a default SmartList.

Enhanced Workflow Processes

Microsoft have been working hard on delivering enhanced functionality for their workflows within Dynamics GP. In GP 2016, you’ll now have more control over who can receive Workflow approval notifications. Email notifications sent to the approver now include things like escalation, delegation and alternate approval.

Sales All-in-One Document View

Dynamics GP 2016 is set to have the brand new ‘Sales All-in-One Document view’. It’ll let you view sales documents for a single transaction in one window. You’ll be able to get to this window as it’ll be linked in on some of the usual pages you use including; Customer Maintenance, Sales Inquiry and more.
