News - Fox-Pitt Kelton selects Microsoft Dynamics GP over Oracle

Fox-Pitt KeltonMay 2007: When Fox-Pitt, Kelton (FPK) undertook a global systems review the finance team decided they needed a fully integrated finance and accounting solution that would unify processes globally and provide group consolidation. Enter Microsoft Dynamics GP (formerly Microsoft Business Solutions Great Plains).

FPK did not take the traditional approach to the search and selection of a new business solution. Originally a business decision was made to migrate to Oracle, which is what former owners Swiss Re use. The parent company wanted its entire infrastructure on the same system. However, when news transmitted of the acquisition FPK assessed their options for a new business system and chose a different option. Shah stated “Oracle was completely wrong for us. We looked at Dynamics GP’s functionality and it was just what we needed. We had some problems with Oracle which we didn’t like; this was to do with the transparency of data and its drill down capability. We have always been happy with the service we have had from advantage and with Dynamics GP as a solution. The only reason we didn’t upgrade sooner was because of the planned migration to Oracle; so when we needed a new system fast it was the obvious choice”.
